This  60 pitch site is Managed Under Contract [MUC] for the Caravan club.

It is situated directly off the A1 at the northern end of the village of Cromwell. There is no intrusive traffic noise considering the proximity to the Great North Road. Pitching is very straightforward on this level site.

The site is divided in two separated by hedging. The top field is open with a gravel road running round it. Pitches are in the centre and on the perimeter, some hard standing. The other area near the entrance and reception is divided into smaller areas again separated by hedging and shrubs. This gives a feeling of privacy but not of being hemmed in. there are hard standings in this area also.

The ex-club wardens keep the whole site in immaculate condition and are extremely helpful and friendly. Plants and shrubs help to maintain the ambience.  Reception has details of attractions in the area. Toilet facilities are maintained to club standards and although not a large block I never had to wait for the shower on my visit, which was over a bank holiday weekend, when the site was full.

Newark is only five miles away. The off site dog walk is also off the public highway. The village shop is 150 yards walk and is one of those rare genuine local village shops that stocks everything.

There are trout fishing lakes adjacent to the site. The site owner has also excavated his own course fishing lakes next to the site.

Although full the site never felt crowded. It was still fairly quiet. There is no separate play area for children.  As this site is adjacent to the A1 it will be used as a stop over by many but it is worthy of a longer visit. I had a very lazy weekend but will definitely return. I might even make into Newark next time.

There is no pub or restaurant in Cromwell village but there are several good eating-places in the surrounding tiny villages. I can especially recommend the one in Norwell village.
